The Lee County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a Pit Bull loose on the streets, and neighbors were concerned. When law enforcement arrived, the dog did something that no one would have guessed. The locals were worried and concerned about a “dangerous” Pit Bull running wild.

The police department stated the following:

“This morning, deputies responded to an Animal call in South District. A large pit bull was running around and neighbors were worried,” the department said.

“Upon arrival, the deputy discovered that this wonderful dog was just out looking for friends to play with.”

“After sufficient play time and fun, deputies were able reunite the dog with his owners.”

“A gate was accidentally left open and this beautiful dog was able to be taken back to his loving home.”

Dexter, a police K9, has spent an incredible 16 years on the job with many roles throughout his lifetime. For the past two years, Dexter was part of the Pennsboro Police Department in West Virginia and has worked alongside his handler, Chief Travis Snuffer, for 12 years.

At 16 years old, Dexter and Snuffer both knew that it was time for Dexter to retire. A TikTok video shows Dexter and Snuffer reacting to the dog’s retirement announcement in a police car while listening to send-off messages from other humans who have worked with Dexter.

The video captures Dexter’s emotional reaction as he listens to the heartfelt messages from his co-workers. Although Dexter may not fully understand what is being said, he looks at the camera with emotion, and Snuffer’s eyes begin to water as he listens to the messages.

Before his retirement, the Ritchie County Sheriff’s Office of West Virginia posted an official statement congratulating Dexter on his retirement and thanking him for his service. They also revealed that Dexter will stay with Snuffer’s family after his retirement and enjoy a life of a “normal” dog.

In another TikTok video, Dexter seems to be enjoying his retirement, playing with toys as much as he wants, and smiling ear to ear. Dexter has had an incredible career as a police K9 and has certainly earned his retirement. Swearing-in ceremonies are a big deal for new police K9s. At least, they should be. All the humans who attend these events think it’s a serious occasion, but for the dog that’s being recognized, it’s just a normal day off work.

For K9 Ghost at the Glynn County Police Department in Georgia, his swearing-in ceremony was all fun and games for him. Instead of closely listening to everything he agreed to, he just wanted to play! A viral video of the ceremony stole the hearts of humans all over the world.

K9 Enjoys Ceremony a Little Too Much!

A Belgian Malinois named K9 Ghost recently completed his police dog training. He spent months learning skills at Highland Canine Training, LLC in North Carolina before training with his human partner, Officer Garza. The human and dog duo learned to work together as a team.

Now, K9 Ghost is an official member of the Glynn County Police Department. To honor his training completion, the department held a swearing-in ceremony for him. However, Ghost didn’t take it as seriously as he should have.

In a video of the ceremony, Chief of Police Battiste kneeled down next to the dog and recited the pledge. He asked the dog to repeat after him, but of course, Ghost couldn’t do that. Instead, he sniffed the paperwork to investigate, and then he entered play mode. As Battiste continued to read the paper, Ghost tried to play with him by jumping up on him, nibbling on his fingers, and requesting belly rubs.

At the end of the ceremony, Battiste asked Ghost to bark if he understood the oath, but Ghost kept playing instead. So, a dog in the audience barked on Ghost’s behalf. Even though Ghost was distracted the whole ceremony, the officers laughed at his antics. After all, it’s hard not to find the adorable pup amusing.

Viewers Had a Lot to Say

Ghost wasn’t in “work mode” during the ceremony, so that’s why the officers happily let him play. However, the video gained a lot of mixed reviews, with some people concerned that he was stressed or not trained enough. But Ghost went through all the necessary training, so he deserves a chance to relax and be silly. His actions during the ceremony aren’t how he’ll behave on the job.

Luckily, most people found the video amusing and endearing. It’s heartwarming to see that even the toughest and most intelligent dogs have regular puppy energy too.

Most of us can count on dogs to be there for us when we need a furry buddy because they are our devoted companions.

We pray that we are never placed in a scenario where we must decide how to behave or how to react with our dogs in the face of actual danger.

The bravery and loyalty of their dog were put to the ultimate test in the case of Margo and Brent Feaser and their two young children.

The family is still alive today because of their German Shepherd dog Maxx, a former K-9, and their tenacious neighbors.

Chip Dover, his son Andrew, and Joe Jordan, neighbors of the Feasers in Longwood, Florida, were taking in the night sky when they heard an explosion.

Dover told TODAY Parents, “We were outdoors with my telescope, looking at Jupiter with my next-door neighbor.

“We were getting ready to come in when we heard a big explosion, and the house just blew up.

“We ran over there immediately and it was burning like crazy, and then we realized the family was still inside.”

House’s windows were broken.

The group hurried to the Feaser’s house and gathered anything they could to smash the house’s front windows.

Margo Feaser, an investigator with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Department in Florida, was saved by the men but desperately tried to return inside to save her husband, son, 4, and daughter, 2.

She’s an amazing soldier, as Chief Deputy Dennis Lemma stated of Margo: “Her major concern was to get in there and to rescue her children.” She is a hero in our organization, and her behavior tonight proves that. We are incredibly proud of her.

Firefighters arrived quickly and Brent, Margo’s husband, was saved. However, their dog Maxx and two children were still inside the burning home.

Maxx later returned to duty to assist the firemen in locating the two infants who were reportedly trapped inside the home, according to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.

The house was now heavily smoke-filled, making rescue efforts more challenging. Thankfully, Maxx was there to greet the firefighters and direct them to the two kids.

According to TODAY Parents, the family was rushed to the hospital, where their condition ranged from stable to critical.

The family’s home was completely destroyed by the fire, which is believed to have been an accident.

Maxx was praised as a hero for staying in the house with the kids and assisting the firemen in navigating the dense smoke while receiving treatment for smoke inhalation.

There are simply not enough beautiful words in the world to adequately describe this incredible hero dog!

We are fortunate to have these dependable pets in our life; it never ceases to amaze me how our dogs risk their lives to assist us humans.

Well done, Maxx! It appears that you haven’t lost the ability to defend and assist.

The post K9 Injured In The Line Of Duty Is Honored When Released From The Hospital appeared first on G2a-ltc.

While many of us enjoy a day off on Thanksgiving and a nice meal at home, others had to work — especially emergency responders like police officers.

But two officers spent their holiday doing an inspiring act: helping a shoebox full of helpless puppies who had been separated from their mother.

Last Thanksgiving, the New York Mills Police Department received a report about two puppies that had been apparently abandoned in a shoebox on a doorstep.

Officer Firley of the department arrived on the scene, and began working to secure crucial care for the puppies. The newborn dogs were still young enough that they needed to be with their mother — they were in serious need of care and attention.

The officer started calling local agencies, hoping to get the pups professional care. “They were too young to be cared for without the proper equipment and experience,” NYMPD wrote on Facebook.

The officers also began to investigate the case — and realized they had been misled about the puppies’ abandonment.

It turned out that a suspect had taken the puppies from their mother shortly after they were born. They soon realized that they were unable to care for the puppies, and called the police under false pretenses.

The person making the report lied to the police — and even worse put the dogs’ lives at risk by keeping them separated from their mother during a crucial infancy period.

“At this time, the investigation is on-going and the NYMPD will be working in conjunction with the Oneida County SPCA to pursue any and all applicable charges against the suspect for the heinous and immoral acts which were committed,” the NYMPD wrote.

However, the story does have a positive ending: the officers were able to find the original owner and made arrangements to reunite the pups with their mother.

It was an unusual Thanksgiving case for these officers, but the important thing is they kept the puppies safe and helped get them home.

“We would like to express our gratitude to Ashley Wright for assisting us during the overnight hours on Thanksgiving, which we are truly thankful for,” the department wrote.

People online praised the officers for spending their holiday looking after the helpless pups.

“Thank you for protecting the puppies,” one commenter on Facebook wrote. “You officers are Awesome.”

“Thank you both for helping the helpless!”

Nothing is scarier for the majority of dog parents than not knowing where their beloved pals are. Even well-behaved dogs have the potential to flee if they become frightened, and they could go away for some time. Rosie the Border Collie was rescued, and when she heard fireworks, she ran away, her family feared the worst. Rosie, fortunately, is a smart dog and knew just what to do in a crisis.

Rosie stopped jogging at the neighborhood police station rather than continuing as far as her legs would allow. She must have learned from her people since she knew to enter and “turn herself in.”

A Moment of Panic

Rosie was adopted from K9 Focus in England eight years ago. She often goes for walks with her humans, Steve and Julie Harper, and her canine sibling, Laser. She was always safe until one day when a firework went off and scared her, causing her to run away without thinking twice.

Julie said that Rosie was showing signs of stress while they were walking in Southfields Park, but she didn’t act out until she heard the firework.

“She went and stood with her dad, which she does when she is nervous, and then skedaddled [when the firework went off],” said Julie. “She pushed herself through a hedge.”

Steve and Julie were really upset because they couldn’t find Rosie anywhere. But luckily, their stress didn’t last long. By the time they got home, someone called them to alert them that Rosie was found!

Rosie Knows What to Do

The park is right next to a Leicestershire police station. Security cameras picked up footage of Rosie entering the police station through the automatic doors. After pacing for a few moments, she sat down next to the chairs in the waiting area as if to wait her turn. She seemed like she knew that she was in the right place to report herself missing.

“Our staff fetched some water for Rosie, and made fast friends with plenty of fuss,” Leicestershire Police wrote on Facebook. “Thankfully, she was wearing a collar, so a lead was available to contact Rosie’s owner, who was delighted she had been found safe and well.”

Rosie’s humans were relieved that the pup was only missing for a short time. They never taught her to visit the police station, so it’s incredible that she figured it out on her own. Rosie is one smart pup!

The moment police officers broke a window to rescue a Shih Tzu from a hot automobile was seen on camera.

On Monday, when it reached 33°C, NET Tram employees heard him barking for the assistance inside the locked silver hatchback. They alerted the police, who were dispatched to a parking lot in Nottingham.

The PC who opened the door can hear the small black dog panting loudly as he climbs over the smashed glass and into his arms.

He was taken into some nearby shade right away, where the cops managed to calm the animal and administer some water from a bottle.

The animal was subsequently transported in blue light to a local veterinary facility, where a dangerously high temperature of 39.1°C was found to be present.

The dog probably wouldn’t have lived if NET Nottingham Tram employees hadn’t raised the alarm, according to PC Jamie Martin.

On a warm day, many people believe that leaving their dog in the car with the windows open is OK.

However, this episode clearly demonstrates that this is not the case. Simply said, on a warm day, you should never leave your dog alone in a car.

Although it is not against the law to leave a dog in a hot car, the officer stated, that owners, are primarily responsible for their pet’s health and welfare.

He cautioned that owners may face charges of animal cruelty and a possible prison sentence if a dog got sick or died in the back of a hot automobile.

Even when it doesn’t feel that warm outside, cars may get as hot as an oven, according to the RSPCA.

The message that dogs perish in hot automobiles needs to be communicated more widely than ever, according to a spokeswoman for the RSPCA.

Many people believe that leaving their pets alone for a few time will be acceptable, however, even a short time can be too long.

“Temperatures can rise to hazardous levels so quickly, putting canines in grave danger.”

“We advise people to call 999 if they observe a dog in trouble in a hot car.

It’s encouraging to see police departments like Nottinghamshire Police and others in England and Wales intervene when dogs require assistance in these potentially catastrophic circumstances.

K9 Kai had only been with the Gwinnett County Police Department for less than a year, but he quickly became a valuable member of the team. The 2-year-old Belgian Malinois worked as a dual-purpose K9, so he assisted with narcotics and patrol.

But sadly, Kai’s hard work came to a halt when he was severely wounded on the job. When Kai and his handler, Cpl. Aaron Carlyle responded to a situation where the suspect had a gun; Kai got shot and was sent to an emergency vet. The brave dog refused to stop fighting.

Suspect Shoots Brave K9

On May 24th, 2022, the Gwinnett County Police Department responded to a domestic incident where a man with a handgun threatened a woman. The armed suspect fled the scene before Kai and police officers arrived. So, K9 officers and the department’s aviation unit tracked down the man.

The department located the suspect in a wooded area. Officers approached the man with Kai by their side. But before police could get too close, the man fired his gun, and Kai jumped in the way. When the suspect’s bullet hit Kai, one of the officers fired at the man in response.

The suspect was revealed as a 17-year-old named Levi Bryan, who survived the incident and was sent to the hospital. Kai was rushed to the vet, where he was in stable condition despite having several bullet wounds.

“He’s a hero to me and the officers that were on that track that night because he took rounds that were meant for us,” Cpl. Carlyle said. “And he never faltered from his job.”

Kai Doesn’t Give Up

Bryan has received several charges, including one for harming a law enforcement animal. Luckily, Kai survived the traumatic incident, but his road to recovery hasn’t been easy. As police officers rushed him to the vet, they performed as much first aid as they could, which likely bought him some extra time.

Kai had several bullet wounds, he needed a blood and plasma transfusion, and there was a hole in one of his lungs. Later, vets decided that they had to amputate his leg to maintain his quality of life. Kai stayed at the emergency vet for weeks to fully recover, but now, he’s finally heading home with Cpl. Carlyle.

“This week Kai underwent surgery that we are happy to report was a success,” the Gwinnett Police Department announced. “He is currently at home being taken care of by his handler, Cpl. Carlyle.”

Kai is now doing physical therapy as he gets used to his missing leg. Cpl. Carlyle said that even though Kai won’t return to work, the pup will still live with him and be spoiled like crazy. Kai’s time as a K9 officer might’ve been brief, but he made such a big impact.

That, it seems, was the dog’s come-what-may motto when it was recently brought in by Wisconsin authorities.

Tate, the dog was discovered wandering the streets of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, with no sign of its owner. Tate was soon “arrested” and taken back to the station after a Good Samaritan made the decision to call the police.

For the normal scofflaw pup, this situation could be stressful, but not for Tate. He kept his composure. and still more.

According to a Chippewa Falls Police spokeswoman, “He fit in extremely nicely.”

Tate made the decision to give himself a position at the station, that of greeter, whilst the police searched for his owner.

He made himself available for any task by hopping up to the guest window.

“I thought it was so funny,” the spokesperson said. Tate wasn’t given a badge, of course, but he did get plenty of pets.

“We all love having the dogs stop by so we can give them some water, treats, and of course some back rubs!” the spokesperson said.
