Before Cody’s birth, Chloe spent nine months by her human mom’s side, regularly cuddling up beside her belly. Chloe’s owners were hopeful that the dog’s enthusiasm would continue after Cody was born. To introduce Chloe and Cody, one parent stayed with Cody in a room while the other led Chloe into the room on a leash. Pets are part of the family, even if they’re not dogs or cats. A family in Decatur, Georgia recently faced homelessness after the dad lost his job, and their rent suddenly increased. In addition to six humans, the family also has a pet rabbit named Goldie who has brought them lots of comfort over the years.

Many homeless shelters don’t allow pets of any kind, so the family was faced with a tough decision. Cory Coleman knew his family couldn’t part ways with their beloved bunny, so he volunteered to sleep outside with Goldie while his wife, Shonvenelle, and four daughters stayed inside.

Man and Rabbit Sleep Outside

Cory and Goldie slept outside for over a month, moving between benches and public transportation stations. Some nights grew frigid, so Cory and his furry friend had to snuggle together for warmth. Cory’s actions prove how dedicated he is to keeping his whole family together, including the bunny.

“I was not going to let her get away that easy, not this rabbit,” Cory said.

Gregory White, the director of the Decatur Recreation Center, noticed Cory trying to bring Goldie into a warming center one day. White knew animals weren’t allowed, but he wanted to help the dedicated father. So, he offered to temporarily care for the rabbit.

White took the rabbit home so Cory could stay at the homeless shelter with his family, but he never intended to care for Goldie long-term. So, he researched local rabbit rescues in hopes that someone would be able to help. Luckily, Georgia House Rabbit Society was happy to house Goldie.

Hope for the Family

Georgia House Rabbit Society is providing a space for Goldie and giving her necessary medical attention until the family can find a pet-friendly place to stay. They spayed her, trimmed her nails, and removed a growth from her body. So, Goldie is now feeling better than ever!

The organization helped promote a GoFundMe for the family, which has raised almost $60,000 so far to help them get back on their feet. Goldie will return to her family as soon as they find somewhere to stay where she’s allowed. When her family is ready to bring her home, the rescue will give them several months of rabbit supplies.

Now that the family’s story has gone viral, Waffle House offered a job to Shonvenelle, and Cory has a promising job lead. The family is currently staying at a hotel, but they’re saving up the money to find an animal-friendly apartment so they can live with Goldie again. Tico the singing parrot wowed audiences with his rendition of “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” by Guns N’ Roses, accompanied by his friend Frank Maglio on lead guitar and guest Lisa Rott on rhythm. The trio sat together in a living room, with Tico perched on a table center stage, surrounded by lights that accentuated his bright yellow head and green body.

The performance was well-rehearsed, and Tico was fully prepared. As soon as Frank and Lisa started strumming their guitars, Tico began to sing without ever turning around to look at his fellow musicians. He looked ahead as if he was performing to a crowd of fans.

Lisa added her voice to the mix, and Tico lovingly whistled along with her. Their voices blended harmoniously with Frank’s expert guitar plucking. As the song reached its chorus, Tico bobbed his head and sang with enthusiasm.

Tico’s grand finale was a stunning display of sustained notes that he delivered from the table’s edge. Frank and Lisa smiled at the song’s end and turned to each other, both impressed by Tico’s incredible performance.

A couple stole Vango and brought him to a pet store to get supplies. While at the store, Vango knew it was the perfect opportunity to cause a scene. He started acting out to get the employees’ attention, and the thieves’ reactions to the situation only raised more suspicions. Vango saved himself from a dognapping!

Shopping with a Stolen Dog

Yves Jodoin, a dog trainer and staff member at Au Royaume des Animaux, noticed Vargo enter the shop with two people who usually bought cat food. Vargo barked at Jodoin, so he handed the pup a treat. Yet, even after receiving a few snacks, Vargo continued to bark at him as if he had something to say.

So, Jodoin asked the couple some questions about the dog, but they didn’t seem to know any details about their furry friend. They didn’t know his age, if he was fixed, or what food he usually ate. When another employee noticed the customers were avoiding the questions, they searched social media for lost dog posts.

Sure enough, Vango’s human, Josée Francoeur, had made a post about him going missing only a few hours earlier. Jodoin realized that he trained Vango in the past, so he was sure this pup was him. Jodoin asked the couple where they got Vango from, and they got defensive and refused to answer.

“At that point, I said, ‘Vango, come!’ And the dog was reacting, he was jumping,” Jodoin said. “All along he was barking and poking, trying to say, ‘Hello, I’m not the dog they say I am.’”

Vango’s Efforts Were Successful!

At that point, the couple admitted Vango wasn’t their dog. They said they found Vango in the woods and wanted to keep him as a support animal because they couldn’t afford to buy and train a new dog. However, Francoeur thinks it’s unlikely that Vango could’ve run away, so she believes he was stolen.

Jodoin convinced the couple to surrender the dog, and the pet store employees reunited the pup with Francoeur. Francoeur burst into happy tears at the news that her dog was found safe. He had disappeared from her yard earlier that morning when she let him out to pee. Francoeur filed a police complaint against the couple.

“I don’t want to cause them problems. We don’t know why they did it. But at the same time, they took my baby,” Francoeur said. “I want to discourage others from doing this.”

Vargo hadn’t been microchipped at the time, so Francoeur immediately scheduled an appointment to get that done. If Vargo hadn’t got the attention of the pet store employees, he might’ve never found his way home!

Everyone said that Major, a young horse, was mean and aggressive. He would get angry and try to bite anyone who came near him, but he wasn’t always like that. Major was abused and ignored when he was young because his first owners tried to “break horses” by doing bad things to them.

Major thought he would have to go through pain for the rest of his life, but then he met Max. At first, Major was very wary of Max, just like he was of all humans. However, Max was different because he never stopped trying to win Major’s trust.

Not willing to trust anyone

Major’s first owners used to beat him and tie him between two posts. They tied him up and then left him alone for four weeks without food or water. Before Max took him in, the poor horse had never met a kind person.

But Max’s wife didn’t like it when he decided to keep the horse. Shortly after moving into his new home, Major ran through the fences and tried to bite anyone who came near him. Because the horse was so dangerous to the family, Max’s wife called him “Major Deal.”

Janna Grapperhaus, Max’s daughter, said, “I’ll never forget the day my mom called me in a panic and said, ‘Janna, you have to convince your dad to get rid of that horse. It’s going to kill him!'”

But Major’s temper never scared Max away. He worked with the horse every day for a few hours, slowly getting the horse to trust him. Major let Max ride him after two years of hard work. Major became so fond of Max that whenever he could, the horse would “kiss” the person.

The last kiss from Major

Max was the only person who wouldn’t give up on the wild horse, so he and Major became very close. Max died in October 2020, putting an end to their heartwarming story.

Max’s family knew that Major deserved a proper farewell, so they let the horse give his human one last kiss before they closed the casket. Janna put a picture on Facebook of Major’s last kiss.

“Every time dad went out, Major would kiss him on the head. They had a connection that only people who know horses could understand. It made sense to let Major say his last words. “This is the last kiss Major will give,” Janna wrote.

It can be hard to take care of an animal that has been abused, but gaining that animal’s trust is one of the most rewarding things you can do. Major was lucky to have Max in his life, and hopefully their story will encourage other people to help even the most difficult animals.

Dogs can be very comforting and a lot of fun. But they can also get into their share of trouble. Sometimes they go together, like with Bulldogs Sophia and Oliver.

When their parents weren’t around, the two puppies decided to have a puppy party, which caused some damage. So, they decided to “play dead” to put off their punishment or even avoid it.

Sophia and Oliver are absolutely adorable. And they tried to use that to their advantage after they broke a basket and chewed on the furniture when their parents weren’t around. Then, when asked if they were the ones who broke things in the living room, they both flopped on their backs and pretended to be dead.

But it wasn’t just their parents who thought it was hilarious.

Their parents took a video of how funny the dogs were when they were told what they had done wrong. They then put the video on their Facebook page. As you might have guessed, the video quickly spread across the internet, and over 3.5 million people found it funny and cute.

At the beginning of the video, Sophia is lying on her back and you can see her white, spotted belly. Her mom looks at a broken basket and asks, “Who did this?” She laughs in the background as the camera moves to her “playing dead” brother, Oliver.

It seems very likely that Oliver really has died. He doesn’t move a muscle, even though his mouth is wide open.

She calls out his name several times and even asks them again, “Who did this?” You can’t help but laugh when you see how little the very guilty dogs move and how little they react.

Before their parents walked in, it was clear that the two puppies had already agreed on the best plan. They both keep pretending to be dead and give it their all. Even when their mom taps Oliver with her foot, he doesn’t give in.

But mom knows just what to do to get them to move. She asks them if they want a “snack” because she thinks that will get them to answer. Sophia stands up almost right away. Then, little by little, Oliver also gives in.

Then, their mom starts asking them again about the mess, and Oliver goes back to laying down and acting like he’s dead. Then, when her mom comes closer, Sophia goes back to lying on her back.

A local rescue found a Pit Bull named Thor, who had been neglected and left in an open garage during a blizzard. Despite the fact that Thor was now secure, his body had suffered significant harm. His organs had shut down due to hypothermia, and he was fighting fiercely to live.

To the rescuers, the vet was straightforward: “We can’t promise he’ll survive.”

That itself broke their hearts, as this dog was fighting so hard to live. It didn’t matter now that he had recovered and was given medical treatment. Thor’s future was still uncertain. The veterinarian informed us that Thor’s health would be touch and go. And, yes, it was.

Every day, the rescuers went to Thor and told him, “You are not alone.” Thor began to trust them. Especially as one of the rescuers sobbed loudly and kissed his head. He required a feeding tube, IV therapy, and a lot of loving care. His new human friends offered up their prayers round the clock for him.

Because of the deficiency, Thor was also severely anemic. He was never given enough food and needed blood transfusions as a result. After his first infusion, Thor began to perk up somewhat. The rescuers were ecstatic! They kept saying, We knew you could do it, Thor. Their encouraging words stayed with him and he continued to improve!

While Thor continued to heal, the rescue group shared his photos online. A woman named Patricia saw Thor’s picture and it was love at first sight. She called the group together and announced that she and her spouse were seeking a canine sibling for their dog, Thor.

Within a few weeks, Thor was able to leave the clinic and return home to his forever family. He met his future parents and their dog Rizzo. The two puppies quickly formed an attachment. They were soon completely inseparable.

Thor’s health kept improving. He began to put on weight. Patricia was now seeing a different dog—Thor learned what it was like to be cared for inside of a home. This is when his real personality revealed itself. His mother claims that he is the most adorable puppy she has ever seen in the video below.

It’s incredible how a dog can endure so much and yet continue to fight. He was mistreated by his owner, but he adores people so very much. When Duffy the Irish Terrier was rescued from a shelter after an eternity, he was the happiest dog on earth. His new parents lavished him with all of their love and attention, and life appeared to be a bedtime story for Duffy. But when he was diagnosed with diabetes, his world came crashing down.

Duffy’s parents were beside themselves with grief as the situation of their cherished dog deteriorated day by day.

His eyesight rapidly deteriorated as a result of diabetes complications, leaving him in deep despair. Although there was a chance of restoring his sight via surgery, it was considered too dangerous owing to Duffy’s high blood sugar levels

As blindness kept sucking the soul out of Duffy, his parents reached out to Veterinary Referral Center in Malvern, Pennsylvania, as a last resort. The vet team assessed the dog’s health and prepared a long-term plan to stabilize his sugar levels before attempting the expensive surgery. After months of struggle, Duffy was finally ready for his eyes to be operated upon.

After being disoriented for a while, Duffy gradually regains his eyesight and immediately runs to his parents to celebrate. The happiness on his face is unmistakable as he hugs and kisses his humans with the biggest smile! Go, Duffy!

Despite the challenges he has encountered, Petey the rescue dog has always been a cheerful puppy. The adorable puppy was already the longest resident at his county shelter in North Carolina at just one year old.

The little shelter’s capacity problem had already caused Petey’s stay to be longer than usual. When no potential adopters came forward, the shelter got in touch with the SPCA of Wake County to see if they could help give Petey more time to find his family.

Petey was immediately accepted by the SPCA. Despite the dire circumstances, Petey didn’t seem at bit depressed. Rather, he was overjoyed to meet his new pals.

“As soon as he got here, he was yanking on the leash trying to get through the door,” Samantha Ranlet, spokesperson for the SPCA of Wake County, told The Dodo. “He bounded into the building.”

The dog’s outgoing nature initially astounded SPCA officials, especially when they thought about how frequently he had been missed at his prior shelter.

“He was super friendly from day one and very playful,” Ranlet said. “We couldn’t believe that nobody wanted him.”

As soon as he arrived, Petey’s SPCA pals immediately submitted a photo of him to their website, but they were concerned that he would be disregarded once more.

“We, unfortunately, expected that he might be overlooked for smaller dogs, like before,” Ranlet said. “But it only took about a few weeks for someone to fall in love with him.”

Ranlet claims that when Petey’s forever family saw the adorable dog’s picture, they knew right once that he belonged with them. After a month of staying at the SPCA, Petey was picked up by his new family, putting an end to his protracted stay in the shelter.

Petey quickly adapted to his new surroundings as he enjoyed spending time with his beloved human siblings and puppy brother. He already enjoys giving his family countless hugs and kisses and playing fetch in his backyard.

And at the end of the day, Petey, the once-forgotten shelter dog, cuddles up in his cozy bed and drifts off to sleep with a big grin on his face.

“That is the smile of a dog who knows he’s home,” the shelter wrote on Facebook.

One of the dogs in shelters who receive extended neglect is Petey. Between 8 and 10 puppies have been waiting for their forever homes at SCPA of Wake County alone for almost a year.

Ranlet and the SPCA staff, however, are optimistic that the stories of their other long-term residents will conclude nicely, just as Petey’s did.

“We’re rooting for them to find their people,” Ranlet said. “That’s what they deserve.”
