Matilda, a beautiful Pit Bull puppy, has cerebellar hypoplasia. According to the NIH, “Cerebellar hypoplasia is a neurological condition in which the cerebellum—the part of the brain that coordinates movement—is smaller than usual or not completely developed.” The condition causes Matilda to wobble while she’s walking.

Lee from The Asher House met the tenacious pup in the shelter. He is completely confident that Matilda will thrive, no matter her obstacles. Lee happily brings Matilda back home. Once she arrives at The Asher House, she’s all about the cuddles! The pair embrace one another as if they’re the only two beings left on earth. Next, it’s time for a good ol’ fashion play session with some pawsome toys! Matilda’s wobble makes her tumble about as she frolics, and it’s just about the cutest thing ever!

When it’s time for Lee to introduce Matilda to the pack, the Pittie can’t contain herself! She’s so happy to have a giant group of puppy support (who, of course, LOVE to play!) She plays with her new siblings, celebrating her life free from the confines of the animal shelter.

When teachers go to school in the morning, they anticipate seeing kids, buses, and the commotion of a new day. They never expect to see a dog waiting in front of their building. That’s precisely what occurred at one Houston, Texas elementary school. The dog was actually sitting outside the main entrance of the institution.

Caleb Schaffer, a teacher in the small town of Columbia Falls, Montana, arrived at work one morning to discover a lovely dog waiting for him at the door. The dog wagged its tail at Schaffer, but he had to go to class, so he walked by the animal. He couldn’t stop thinking about the Lab mix who was outside the school building, so he went back to see if anything had changed. Unfortunately, the dog was gone when he got there.

The dog was unsuccessful while being hunted by animal control. Sure enough, the next morning, the dog was again at the entrance, and Schaffer spotted him. The man repeated his actions, and the dog vanished once more later in the day. He did notice how terrible the dog’s skin looked and how he was whining and clawing at it.

Finally, on the third day, the dog was there and Schaffer performed some action. He walked to his automobile, called the dog in, and the hound climbed straight into the vehicle with him. He returned home with his wife so he could work since Schaffer could not maintain him. Despite this, he attempted to contact a number of rescue organizations. No one had space available. He took him to a local animal shelter where he received basic care and a wash before being handed over.

He named him Clive and sent pictures to the Urgent Shelter Pets of Houston Facebook page. Thankfully, Lucky Lab Rescue and Adoption saw the video and they arranged for a foster home. Schaffer tells the story to his students. In an interview with The Dodo, he said, “There are so many strays everywhere here. It’s given me an opportunity to talk about spaying, neutering, heartworm prevention, and the reality of shelters.”

The puppy worms his way closer to Dad. He knows if he drifts off, this is the perfect spot. He rests his tiny head on Dad’s shoulder then appears to be whispering into his ear. The puppy gets comfy and before long, it’s snooze-ville. His puppy sweetness is off the charts! Dad plays it cool but you know he’s absolutely bursting with love.

Learn about Gunnar, the seven-week-old puppy that was abandoned and left to fend for himself. Despite being sick and malnourished, he still shared his only slice of bread with rescuers who found him. If he wasn’t saved when he was, he may not have lived much longer.

Fortunately, the Sidewalk Specials rescued Gunnar and took him to the vet, where he was found to be anemic, suffering from tick bite fever, and had one of the worst worm and tick infestations that the veterinarians had ever seen.

After spending a night at the vet, Gunnar was given the all-clear to go to a foster home. He spent a week there before finding his forever family, where he fit right in with his new pack without needing much adjustment time.

Gunnar, who had never seen a lawn before, loved to run and chase his ball all day. He also developed an obsession with finding the perfect rock, which he proudly presents to his family. He is even a great foster brother to other puppies.

Despite being outside dogs, they preferred to play with each other rather than with humans, huddling together for protection when they felt unsafe.

Although they still feel nervous in new situations, the puppies are slowly growing braver each day, gaining more confidence and trust in their new loving environment. A second video update showed the puppies becoming more curious and playful, running towards the camera instead of cowering. After being rescued, the puppy was brought to the rescue center and given a lucky red leash. His skin was scabbed and scaly, so it was crucial to keep him clean and apply topical medication. The first step was to give him a bath, which was done gently by one of the volunteers. With her kind touch, the pup felt what love is like for the first time and joyfully wagged his tail to show his gratitude.

The road to recovery was challenging, but the puppy never had to face the world alone again. Through love and care, he transformed into a beautiful boy, and found a loving home. Thanks to Hope For Paws and their amazing work, the little puppy’s life was changed forever.
