A woman in Indianapolis had the “best day of her life” when she was reunited with her golden retriever who went missing after a car crash. Hannah Smith was driving home from a friend’s house with her 4-year-old golden retriever, Gunner, in the backseat when she collided with another vehicle. Although Hannah only sustained minor scrapes from the accident, Gunner was nowhere to be found. She suspected that the golden retriever was scared off by the accident and escaped through a broken window.

Hannah raised Gunner from a 5-week-old puppy and was worried about his safety and wellbeing. Making the situation even more serious, Gunner was without the medication he was prescribed after undergoing surgery two weeks ago. She shared Gunner’s story on social media and placed flyers around the area. Although she received help from locals in the community, days passed with no sign of Gunner.

But then, Hannah’s luck turned around. A woman found Gunner hiding under a downed tree while walking her dogs. According to a Facebook post from Hannah on Sunday, Gunner was “safe and exhausted.” Hannah thanked all the people who helped her search for Gunner and said, “Thank you all from the bottom of my soul.”

Thankfully, Gunner was “not seriously hurt,” although he was dirty and had minor scrapes. Hannah gave him a bath and his medication, and he’s now resting easy after his adventure. “He’s going to sleep great!” she said.

“Laker, a golden retriever, has been suffering from seizures since he was around 3 months of age. Laker was diagnosed with seizures around 6 months of age by a dog neurologist and was placed on seizure medication. Since then, his seizures have become more controlled. At times, he will have episodes of running and crying with extreme confusion. These seizures are called psychomotor seizures.”

“Recently, I purchased a Furbo dog camera and it picked up Roxy, Catahoula cur, stopping Laker from an episode. She is not trained to do this but these two have a bond that I have never seen. They check on each other throughout the day and truly love one another. Roxy is protective of all of us in the home so it’s no surprise that she helps him but still such a blessing and surprise that she can.”

Myla, the brilliant and loving Golden Retriever in this clip, has been feeling the impact of her growing years for some time. The nice girl enjoys playing fetch with her favorite tennis ball in the pool. Unfortunately, fatigue usually gets the better of her whenever she enters the water these days.

In this video shared by Dad, we see Myla motionlessly napping away right in the middle of the pool. Even though she was aiming to play with her ball, the warmth of the sun, combined with the calm and relaxing pool water, made her feel lighter and caused her to doze off.

Despite the slumber, it’s amusing to see how Myla holds on to the ball till the very end.

Dad says he has seen Myla rocking back and forth several times as she naps in the pool, with her nose eventually hitting the water and waking her up. So cute. Myla is a wonderful girl and her sleepy pool adventure has totally brightened up our day.

Many people will do anything for their beloved pets — even if it means putting themselves in harm’s way. Time and again we’ve seen stories of everyday pet owners putting themselves in danger if it means saving their friend’s life (and pets do the same for their owners).

Like one 74-year-old woman who faced down an alligator to save her beloved golden retriever.

According to the Palm Beach Post, Suzan Marciano, from Boca Raton, Florida, was walking her dog Nalu near a lake on the evening of August 24.

After playing fetch, the two were enjoying the lake, with the golden retriever chest-deep in the water. But Suzan recalls her “heart dropped” when she saw a dark spot in the water creeping towards her dog.

It was an alligator, more than six feet long, and in an instant it had Nalu in its jaws.

Without thinking, the senior woman jumped into action to get her dog free. “I did the only thing I could do. I came down on the alligator with all my weight,” she told the Palm Beach Post.

The gator released Nalu — but soon turned its attention on Suzan, chomping down on her hand. “It was all one big blur. I was in such shock. I didn’t feel any pain,” she recalls.

Both Suzan and Nalu survived the ordeal, but both had puncture wounds that required hospital visits. Suzan received five stitches on her hand, and Nalu underwent a two-hour surgery for wounds on her stomach and thigh.

They were also both left “traumatized” by the ordeal, and Suzan says she was afraid to go back to the park for weeks: “I was still seeing the shadow with two eyes looking up from out of the water. That image kept coming back to me,” she told the Palm Beach Post.

According to the Post, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission investigated the site in response to the incident but could not find any alligators in the lake. A spokesperson said their program “proactively address alligator threats.”

What a scary incident. While both Suzan and Nalu were left with some injuries and trauma, we’re glad they both survived the ordeal. It goes to show how fearless pet owners can be when their dogs are in danger.

Like most Golden Retrievers, Gunner is adorable, friendly, and loves to make new friends. Unlike most dogs, however, Gunner’s best friend is a dolphin named Delta.

The duo has been the closest of pals since Gunner was 8 weeks old and Delta was 4 years old. Though their friendship is the stuff fairytales are made of, a recent photo on Twitter caused a big splash.

A guy named Ken aka @_woolyback tweeted out an image of Gunner giving Delta a big wet doggy kiss. Along with the photo, Ken wrote, “Sorry to interrupt, important news.”

As of this writing, over 1.3 million people have liked the image and hundreds of thousands have shared it.

One woman, @mz_jolene, replied to the tweet by stating, “I love this! My heart is so heavy these days but this lightened it up immensely. Thank you! We need LOVE right now!”

Delta lives at the Dolphin Research Center in Grassy Key, Florida, and Gunner has been hanging out with his finned friend from the very start. The folks at the Center shared a throwback image of the pair so followers could see how the friendship evolved.

Most people are familiar with the amazing work the service dogs do. Service dogs are like real-life angels that help all kinds of different people with the struggles they face in their lives. This can be completing commands, providing comfort for those who suffer from anxiety, being a guide for people with vision impairments or mobility issues, warning when there is a spike in sugar levels, and even built-in sensors for seizures. Service dogs truly do it all.

Sometimes, they can even prove to be a big help to their fellow canines, this is the case for 11-year-old golden retriever, Charlie. Charlie was experiencing a major life adjustment after he had lost both of his eyes to glaucoma.

According to AKC, Glaucoma in dogs is a rise in eye pressure. The pain associated with Glaucoma causes tearing, squinting, and elevation of the third eyelid. Blood vessels become prominent in the conjunctiva (the white of the eye), and the cornea, which is normally clear, can look blue due to edema. Some dogs lose vision within a few hours, which was the case for Charlie. ​​

His owners, North Carolina-based Chelsea and Adam Stipe quickly noticed the toll that it had taken on their normally uppity pup, who was really struggling to get used to his new normal following the loss of his eyesight.

Once the idea was brought up that Charlie could benefit from the help of a service dog, it would take some convincing. In an effort to help their beloved dog, they started off his new year with what could be a helpful hand. A puppy named Maverick could help solve a lot of problems.

It was not an instant connection at first since Charlie was a little hesitant about getting close to Maverick. However, Maverick soon realized that Charlie was struggling in life and stepped in to help. The couple eventually began to call Maverick their “seeing-eye puppy.”

“When they would play, Maverick would realize that Charlie would lose the toy sometimes. So Maverick would pick it up and put it back in front of him to re-engage playtime. They almost turn into little sled dogs where they will walk each other too.” Chelsea and Adam said to NBC Philadelphia.
