Salty the Greyhound has a very pronounced overbite that gives her teeth a human-like appearance. While many shelter visitors found her teeth ugly and grotesque, a Melbourne family eventually fell in love with her and adopted her!

Mom Lucy Percival was having a great time pampering Salty and discovering a new side to her personality every day. But one day, Salty began chattering her teeth uncontrollably and it caused her parents to worry. As Lucy snuggled with Salty and wondered what was wrong, the dog’s chattering grew louder.

Eventually, the family realized that Salty wasn’t sick, scared, or cold, but the cause of her uncharacteristic teeth chattering was rooted in love! Salty had never experienced so much love and comfort in her life, and her heart simply exploded every time her family made her happy. This overwhelming sentiment automatically caused her teeth to chatter!

Over the years, the Percivals have become used to having a noisy household because of Salty’s frequent joyful teeth chattering. Many people misunderstand and question the family about Salty’s well-being, to which they have to explain that it’s an involuntary response similar to a cat’s purr!

Lucy calls Salty the greatest gift of her life, and she also thanks her “social” dog for helping her forge invaluable friendships in her community. Rescue dogs are always such a blessing, no matter how they look!

We all know the stereotypes surrounding Pit Bulls, but Lucy here is just another great example of why we can’t pin bad behaviors on certain breeds. It’s all in how they’re raised. This sweet dog loves everyone she comes into contact with, but it took her nonverbal human brother a little time to come around to her.

Through daily walks and other interactions, the five-year-old boy eventually warmed up to Lucy. And the Pittie even started following the boy to the school bus where she was able to meet the driver. And now, it’s a daily ritual!

Lucy waits all day for her boy to come home, and as soon as he’s dropped off, she runs over and thanks the bus driver for safely returning him home! It’s the sweetest routine, and you can see it for yourself in the video below. 🙂

Heart the Pit Bull got his name for his lovely, kind-hearted demeanor. He adores every human he meets, but as it turns out, humans weren’t always nice to him. Someone found the innocent Pit Bull wandering the streets of Philadelphia. They said he was disoriented, covered in puncture wounds, and missing his tongue. So, the kind soul rushed the ill canine to ACCT Philly, which is the only open-admission shelter in the city.

Now, Heart has recovered and is looking for a special forever home to give him the love he deserves.

Heart’s Second Chance

Once he arrived at ACCT Philly, vets examined Heart’s health. Sadly, they discovered that his tongue had been deliberately cut out, and it likely happened recently. His puncture wounds seem to be from dogs, so Heart is very scared when he walks past unfamiliar canines. Yet, he still has plenty of faith in humans.

Sarah Barnett, the director of development and communications at ACCT Philly, said this is one of the worst cases of abuse the shelter has seen. Still, she reminds others that instead of questioning why someone would do something so horrible, they should focus on the dog’s future instead. So, Barnett got to work on trying to find a foster home for Heart. But it wasn’t easy.

“There were no fosters available anywhere. Every rescue is struggling to find fosters right now since many of the people who fostered in 2020 now want to be out taking vacations,” Barnett said.

So, with the help of donations from PAWS and ACCT Philly’s Yoda Fund, Barnett was able to foster Heart herself. Barnett has experience working with special needs dogs, and she knew Heart would have some challenges, but she was determined to help him in any way she could.

In Need of a Loving Home

The biggest challenge Heart faced in his foster home was eating. Without a tongue, the food would often fall out of his mouth and make a mess when he tried to eat. After lots of trial and error, Barnett learned that he could eat just fine if given dry food in a raised bowl. Now, Heart is able to eat all on his own, but he often needs someone to clean up after him.

All of Heart’s wounds are fully healed now, so he’s looking for the family of his dreams. Barnett thinks he would do best in a home with no other pets, where he can have lots of space to run around and play. He’s not picky about humans though, and he even adores children. So, Barnett is shocked that no one has scooped up the sweet pup yet.

“He’s going to need somebody who’s going to be a leader for him and be his rock — basically help him continue to learn the world’s not super scary,” Barnett said. “What’s remarkable to me, given what he’s been through, is that he’s not even remotely scared of people. Everybody who comes by, he’s very thrilled about.”

Without a tongue, Heart will likely get hot much faster than other dogs since he can’t fully pant. But despite his special needs, he’s a wonderful dog who will give his humans all the love in the world. He even cuddles and tries to give kisses, which for him means he just likes to nuzzle his face against someone. It’s the sweetest thing ever!

Lulu the Border Collie is now a millionaire, but she doesn’t like to brag about it. After her loving human died, he left $5 million in her name. Lulu can buy endless supplies of dog food or even her own personal bodyguard, but that’s not the life for her. Instead, she’s just going to keep living her normal life, but maybe with some extra treats along the way.

This canine’s fortune is meant to be used to cover all her regular expenses. Lulu’s new human will be reimbursed for any reasonable monthly expenses. They don’t know how they’ll ever spend so much money on a dog, but Lulu is special, so they’re going to try!

The Gift of Love

84-year-old Bill Dorris loved Lulu very much. The two were inseparable for years, but sadly, Dorris was on the road a lot. When he could not have Lulu with him, he entrusted his 88-year-old friend Martha Burton with the dog’s care. The 8-year-old Border Collie quickly fell in love with Burton too.

Dorris passed away at the end of 2020, leaving Lulu and Burton heartbroken. But when they saw his will, something peculiar stood out to them.

“Five million dollars will be transferred to a trust to be formed upon my death for the care of my Border Collie, Lulu,” the will reads.

The will also states that Lulu will continue to be cared for by Burton. Of course, Burton and Lulu were happy about this since they were basically family already. Money won’t buy Lulu happiness, but hopefully, it will help make the remainder of her life great.

A Canine Millionaire

Not many dogs can brag about having millions of dollars. So, Lulu is one lucky pup. It’s unclear where this much money came from and how much Dorris’ estate is worth, but friends of Dorris say he had impressive real estate holdings and investments.

However, Burton doesn’t know anything about Dorris’ savings, and she doesn’t care to learn more. All that matters to her is that Lulu is well cared for, just like her friend would’ve wanted.

“He loved that dog,” Burton said. “She’s a good girl.”

The will didn’t specify what would happen to the $5 million after Lulu passes away. But for now, Burton and Lulu will live in the present. Burton hopes to spend as much money on the Border Collie as possible, and Lulu will get to live a life of luxury.

Is there anything better than dog and baby interactions? Just give me two pairs of big, curious eyes and some unspoken love and I’m done for. When it comes to this category, the cuteness in the dynamic entertainment duo of a singing, piano-playing Beagle/Basset Hound mix and his human baby sister is tough to beat.

Buddy Mercury, named of course after the famous Freddie Mercury of ‘Queen’ fame, has a true Cinderella story. He was adopted from a shelter and fortuitously brought back to a home with a piano in it. Through his own accord, he started to jump up and play the keys, howling along to the music. He really lives up to his namesake!

Now the singing pianist pup is an internet sensation.

Buddy Mercury’s people parents told Bored Panda how lucky they are to have this furry little musician in their lives.

“He is one of the kindest, sweetest dogs I’ve ever met. He absolutely loves people. But he also loves other animals. Even cats! He gets along with everyone. He’s a little love.”

Buddy’s YouTube channel is a magical place, but one particularly video almost stopped my dang heart. It shows Buddy, pounding on the keys and howling as his tiny human sister does a supportive and enthusiastic jig in the background.

Apparently, this dog just can’t get enough of making music.

“Buddy Mercury plays his piano daily! Many times multiple times per day. He would like to inspire other animals and children all over the world about the joy of music and to always let your creative juices flow.”

Buddy’s such a talented canine musician, his story was even featured in People magazine.

“We feel he plays his tunes not only for the love of music, and his family but as a call to action for others to consider rescuing an animal. There are so many out there in need of a good, loving and happy home. ”

Seriously, this guy should be playing concert halls, or at the very least fancy cocktail bars. Look how well he rocks a bow tie!

On Buddy’s website, visitors can purchase merchandise or original music. The family then kindly donates a percentage of every purchase directly to shelters to save other animals like him.

“This dog’s mission is simple – bringing joy, laughter and pawsitivity to the world through the love of music, and helping more furry friends to be rescued. Why shop, when you can adopt?”

Just thinking of all the future superstars still living in shelters makes me wish I had a bigger yard and a few extra hands.

Nathan and Alicia McNeese have a perfect, loving marriage. Yet, there’s one thing that often comes between them: their cuddly Chihuahua named Bristol. Nathan is Bristol’s favorite human, and she’s not afraid to show it.

Bristol often snuggles up to her human dad to show off their close bond. It’s almost as if she wants to make her mom jealous. But luckily, Alicia gets just as much of a kick out of it as everyone else. After all, Bristol is one silly pup!

Love at First Sight

Alicia said that Bristol fell in love with Nathan the moment she met him. The couple has at least two other dogs, but none of them are as obsessed with Nathan as the tiny Chihuahua is. Right away, she claimed him as her own. She made sure everyone knew it too.

“Her go-to person is my husband,” said Alicia. “The bond that they have is incredible.”

Every time Alicia tries to come in between Bristol and Nathan, the pup acts like a jealous girlfriend. She snuggles up right beside her dad and gives her mom a sassy glare. Alicia says it’s her “sorry Mom, he’s my man” look.

Bristol follows her dad everywhere, snuggles up on his shoulder, and even steals her mom’s spot in the bed. But Alicia is okay with it because she loves the little Chihuahua with all her heart.

Bristol Proves Her Devotion

In a popular TikTok video, Alicia captured a moment where Bristol’s jealousy shines through. At the start of the video, Alicia is in the car, resting her head on her husband’s shoulder. As soon as she lifts her head, Bristol jumps up from the back seat to steal her spot. She rests her head on her dad’s shoulder instead.

In the video, Alicia tries to rest her head back on Nathan’s shoulder, but the pup is visibly jealous. So, Alicia lifts her head again, and sure enough, Bristol takes her spot once again. The Chihuahua wants to make it clear that Nathan belongs to her and only her. Instead of getting mad at the spoiled pup, Alicia can’t help but laugh.

“I think she was thinking, ‘He’s my human. Move on over, Mom,’” Alicia said.

Most dogs have a favorite person, and they love to show their affection. Bristol’s devotion might be a little bossier than other dogs, but it’s clear that she has good intentions. Of course, she loves her mom too, but her dad will always hold the most special place in her heart.

A beloved black Lab named Charlie lived just long enough to be with his favorite human when she got married.

When Kelly O’Connell of Denver, Colorado tied the knot with the love of her life, it meant the world for her to have pup Charlie Bear by her side. Both she and new-husband James Garvin are veterinarians.

At 15 years old, Charlie had been battling a brain tumor for several months. By his human’s wedding day this September, he was very weak–but he still made it.

The pup began walking down the aisle with O’Connell’s sister and maid of honor Katie Lloyd. But when the distance proved to be too great for him, the 5’3″ Lloyd picked up the 80-pound Charlie and carried him to the altar to lie next to his human.

“Both of us just dropped to our knees and started crying,” the bride told ABC News. “To see him be carried a few feet, it kind of solidified for me that it’s not the Charlie he liked to be. He was aging, and it hit me knowing that he lost a lot.”

“He was a very sweet dog. He loved everybody, but I was definitely his person,” she said in the story.

Those moments at the wedding turned out to be some of their last together. A few days later, Charlie crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

These heartfelt pictures, shot by O’Connell’s friend and photographer Jen Dziuvenis, will always be special memories for the newlyweds.

“When your beloved dog who is at the end of his life can’t make it back up the aisle and your sister scoops him up and carries him …. THAT is love,” Dziuvenis wrote on Facebook. “There isn’t enough mascara in the world for these moments. Dog people are the best people.”
