A woman from Tiverton, Rhode Island, is now facing felony animal abuse charges after two dogs were found severely neglected outside of her home.
The Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals responded to the woman’s home after a local animal control officer was suspicious of abuse.
When officers arrived, they found two Pit Bulls who were in horrible conditions.
One of the dogs, an eight-year-old male named Remy, was severely emaciated with all of his bones poking out, and had zero fat or muscle mass.
The other dog, five-year-old Beni, was also very malnourished and had a large tumor on the back of her leg that never received medical treatment.
The RISPCA immediately seized the dogs and brought them to an emergency vet for proper medical attention.
The dogs’ owner, 30-year-old Amanda Medeiros, has since been charged with one count of unnecessary cruelty to animals and two counts of failing to provide adequate veterinary care.
