It’s hard to imagine why anyone would dump a litter of puppies at the side of the road when there are shelters that would take them in and offer them the care that they need.

Thankfully there are good samaritans that stop and help those animals that are just dumped and left to fend for themselves.

When a litter of puppies was found dumped down a road in Vineland, New Jersey, it was clear that they weren’t capable of looking after themselves.

They were in such a shocking state that when an animal control officer arrived on the scene, they were rushed to a veterinarian clinic.

The five tiny puppies found dumped at the side of the road were completely bald and emaciated. The animal hero that stopped to help contacted South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter.

Animal shelter staff rushed the puppies to the vet who said there were just over five months old. They were hairless due to the fact they all had mange, were extremely emaciated, had eye infections and swollen feet and were covered in open sores.

After they were treated they were returned to South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter where they were given all the love and care that they needed.

When staff found them they were so grateful they covered everyone with kisses and their tails wouldn’t stop wagging, despite their exhaustion and hunger.

But they have a long road to recovery ahead of them and staff worked hard to treat them giving them medicated baths, antibiotics and eye medication.
