Everyone can experience acceptance and love at the Safe in Austin Rescue Ranch in Texas. The reason behind this is that many of the farm’s animals have specific needs or are abused and neglected survivors.

Therefore, it can have a therapeutic effect when a child with a congenital hand anomaly like Harper Wulms visits the farms and meets a rescued turkey with a “lucky claw” like Priscilla.

The sanctuary’s founder, Jaime Wallace-Griner, told The Washington Post, “There is something absolutely magical about watching a child with differences come out here and say, ‘They’re just like me.’ When you see Harper holding Priscilla’s lucky hand with her own lucky hand, it just does so much for her heart.”

Animals that otherwise would have been neglected or put to death.

“We have animals that are blind or deaf, have diabetes, cerebral palsy, deformities, missing limbs, broken spines … they all become part of our family,” Wallace-Griner said.

Halo, a Great Pyrenees puppy, is one of the creatures you might see at the sanctuary. When a breeder determined Halo couldn’t be used, the breeder left her in a box. Halo was thankfully saved by Wallace-Griner and treated properly.

Halo ultimately needed her hind leg severed and her front two rebuilt. Wallace-Griner noted that she didn’t appear to be aware of her differences from the other dogs, though.

She has always been a kind girl with a cheerful disposition.

Halo formerly moved around by hopping, but she recently obtained a set of OrthoPets prosthetic legs. It was the cutest thing to see her expression when she first used her new legs!

“I have no words. I can’t believe it,” Wallace-Griner wrote on Facebook.

They were placed on Halo carefully by Wallace-Griner so that she could feel secure. Halo spent some time with them while becoming cozy. She then stood tall and independently.

Halo instantly stepped onto a mat Wallace-Griner pulled out with her new legs.

Wallace-Griner was grinning ear to ear. Halo must have been very fond of the man who arrived at the farm’s entrance because she went right up to him.

Halo soon joined the other dogs in the yard for some canine playtime. Wallace-Griner posted on Facebook, “With a big giant pride-filled smile, while I wept (The blubbering starts at 5:15).”

“It’s been an insane rollercoaster of challenges and emotions over the last year. From the moment I brought this little wounded, 4-week-old, one-legged fluff ball home, I knew she was something special! Look what we did guys. Just look at our Halo go! ”

Two years passed and there was no sign of Casey the Schnauzer. The dog went missing and his frantic owner had just about given up hope of ever seeing her beloved dog again. Amazingly, the lost dog was found and reunited with his very grateful mom. The Schnauzer was so overcome with emotion, that he appeared to pass out.

During the time Casey went missing, his mom worked and lived in Slovenia. She came back to her hometown in Murrysville, Pennsylvania, where this joyful reunion occurred.

The moment Rebecca and Casey saw each other, tears began to flow, the dog squealed with joy, and his mom could hardly control her emotions. As they cling to each other, you can feel the love and gratitude between them.

Suddenly, Casey leans to the side and appears to pass out. Is it from the emotional reunion? Is he beside himself with glee? The perky pooch was simply full of exhilaration and it got the best of him. He was taken to a veterinarian who watched the video, checked him out, and said the dog is fine.

The Florida Trail is a 1,100-mile trail which makes it a challenge. Kyle Rohrig had the most significant test of patience and determination when he decided to bring his blind dog, Katana, to the hike.

“When I brought Katana out here it was either to sink or swim,” Rohrig told The Dodo. “The only catch being, I wasn’t going to let her sink.”

Katana was an experienced hiker before she lost her vision. They even completed the 2,200-mile Appalachian Trail together until glaucoma clouded the dog’s eyes.

In the middle of the Pacific Crest Trail, they were forced to leave the wilderness and go to the vet for Katana’s surgery. As soon as the vet cleared her, they decided to continue the trail.

However, when Katana lost vision, the dog’s personality changed. “At first she was very cautious and timid about doing anything,” Rohrig said. “She seemed unsure of herself.”

Rohrig knew Katana could memorize the layout of a house and live out the rest of her days in comfort. But for him, their adventures together are not over. Katana began to get used to the dark, then Rohrig created a plan to bring back her confidence.

“I had my eye on the Florida Trail for a couple of years, but never made any official plans to hike it,” Rohrig said. “After Katana went blind, I thought it would be the perfect trail to help her really come to terms with her new circumstances.”

“We’d been eating and sleeping her blindness for months,” he added, “but out there on the trail, we’d be breathing it as well.”

Rohrig and Katana started their hike last January 8. The trail was mostly flat — but that’s where the ease ended. “It was very wet, muddy, buggy and at times we were wading through water, mud or swamp for miles … sometimes up to my waist,” Rohrig said. “It was a tough, wet year to hike this trail.”

Over the next 72 days, the two encountered different challenges such as alligators, snakes, blown-down trees, and sometimes a trail that is unclear. “The Florida Trail was about as monotonous and grueling as it comes,” Rohrig said.

Katana did her best to hike on her own. However, if the trail conditions become tough, Rohrig would carry her on his back. “She loved every second of the freedom out there and getting to explore new places,” Rohrig added. “I truly think that’s every dog’s dream.”

They reached the line in late March, after the hike, Katana slowly became the strong and self-assured pup determined to the finish.

“I don’t know exactly how she did it, but she could lead me down the trail perfectly, without hitting a single obstacle while accounting for every twist and turn in the trail,” Rohrig said. “Katana went from cautious and timid to confident and curious.”

When they are home, Katana applies what she learned during their adventures. She became positive and tried to cope.

“She’s not just dealing with her new circumstances — she’s thriving, and she’s thriving wherever she goes,” Rohrig said. “We have many more adventures planned, and I’m going to keep taking her until she ceases to enjoy them. We’re both living the dream.”

Anyone who loves a dog knows how they wrap their pawprints around the heart and never let go. Pamuk is one of the most devoted dogs on the planet and isn’t afraid to let her owner know how deep her love is. Recently, Pamuk’s owner, Mehmet Cakmak, had a heart attack at home while watching television. The senior citizen was rushed to a nearby hospital and was admitted to the intensive care unit in Turkey.

Although Pamuk had no idea what happened to her owner, she “sensed” something was wrong and decided to follow the man’s family to the hospital one day. There, she remained loyal and steadfast in her position and waited for Mehmet to exit the building. She rarely left her spot and stayed in the same area for 14 long days and nights.

Metin Çakmak, the patient’s son, told a news agency the dog never left the hospital except to find food. A hospital staff member was amazed at the dog’s loyalty, stating, “She was here all the time and was waiting in such a calm manner.”

Finally, when the magical day arrived and Cakmak was discharged, the devoted dog stayed right by his side for the trip home. Dogs are really amazing creatures who want nothing more than to give and receive love. You are such a good girl, Pamuk!

The world is constantly moving and we are all in a state of change all the time. For humans, it’s easier for us to cope and understand, but for rescue dogs, it’s a whole different story.

They don’t understand why their best friend isn’t there with them anymore, but they wait. Despite being scared and confused, they hope that someone comes back.

Just like our furry friend here who was left to survive all alone after his owner disappeared. It’s a good thing that Hope for Paws was notified and immediately came to rescue him.

Every month, the team of Hope for Paws is asked to help pets find loving forever homes after their owners passed away unexpectedly and no instructions were left for the care of their pets. They said that many of these pets end up in shelters, but most of the time they’re just thrown out to the streets to fend for themselves. Oftentimes, the pets are scared and confused as to why they’re alone.

On June 10, they received a call informing them about a dog that’s been left by an RV trailer. Immediately, the rescuers went to the location and saw the dog under the trailer. According to them, the dog and the owner used to live in the trailer until the owner suddenly disappeared.

When they arrived, they kept a safe distance, making sure that they didn’t scare away the dog. After assessing the situation, they figured that the fastest and safest way to get the dog was for them to set their humane trap by the trailer.

After hauling the cage, they placed a towel inside for the dog’s comfort, as well as a trail of dog food to lure the pup inside the cage.

From a distance, they watched as the dog slowly emerged from the space under the trailer and followed the trail of food. In no time, the cage snapped closed and the dog is now safely inside. The rescuers were even surprised at how quick that took them.

They ran back inside the area and made sure that the dog was okay. Upon reaching the cage, they saw that he chewed on the spring of the cage door which the rescuer said no other dog has ever done before. The dog didn’t show any hostility or aggression towards them, in fact, he seemed happy someone was finally there for him.

They’ve coordinated with L.A. Animal Rescue (LAAR) and made sure that the dog will have a place to stay. The LAAR also suggested that they name the furry friend Klaus. He remained calm throughout the rescue. They had to move fast since the heat was quite unbearable and it would be best if the dog was in a more comfortable space.

Gently, yet swiftly, they moved the cage toward the fence that was near their vehicle. Successfully, they were able to carry Klaus over the fence with the help of the rest of the team and a worker who offered to lend a hand.

Making sure that he’s not dehydrated, they offered Klaus water, which he refused to drink. He was still very nervous around them, but he did show signs that he was happy someone found him.

At the hospital, they gave him a bath and had the VET check him up. The rescuer took this time to comfort and reassure Klaus.

When dogs are abandoned, they never fully understand that they are, but they eventually become aware that they’re all alone with no best buddy anymore. It slowly takes a toll on them and it makes them very anxious. Rescues like Klaus need gentleness and assurance in order to trust again.

They brought Klaus to where the other rescues were and although he seemed shy, he slowly got along with the other dogs. As well as slowly trusting hoomans again.

Many dogs out there are going through what Klaus went through or even worse.

Dogs are lifetime commitments and cannot be left to fend for themselves when owners cannot handle the responsibility anymore. Having plans for your pet is an incredibly important thing that all fur parents must take into consideration before deciding to take the additional responsibility of taking care of another life.

One of the most heartbreaking things in life is when a beloved pet passes away. Pet owners deal with this grief in different ways, whether it’s finding a special way of remembering the good times you had together, or honoring them by helping out other animals.

And one anonymous person recently found a way to do both at the same time: after the death of their dog, they found a heartwarming way to memorialize them while also helping out the local pets.

A woman in Newport, Rhode Island came across an unusual sight at Rejects Beach: a wooden box filled with yellow tennis balls.

Affixed to the box was a sign that revealed the box was actually set up as a memorial: it read “Piper Harden 2006-2021.”

Piper, it turned out, was a dog who recently passed away — and her owner decided to do something special to remember her by, in the dog’s old favorite place.

“This beach was Piper’s favorite place to run around, play fetch, and bark at the waves,” the sign read, according to Newport Buzz. You can see a black-and-white photo of the late dog standing on the beach.

In honor of all the fun times they had with Piper, the owner decided to make sure other dog owners could have a great time playing with their pets by offering up free tennis balls.

“Please help yourself to a tennis ball for your dog to play with,” the owner wrote. “Keep it or drop it back in the box for another dog to enjoy. Love this time with your pup and enjoy this day you have together.”

When a pet dies, you suddenly remember all the great times you had together — even if it was something as simple as playing fetch. Piper’s memorial serves as a reminder to make the most of these good times while we still can.

It isn’t the first time someone has set up a free tennis ball stand in honor of their late dog: earlier this year, a stand appeared in Silver Sands beach in South Australia, honoring a dog named Bruce.

“Remember to live each moment like your dog with unconditional love, loyalty and happiness,” Bruce’s owner wrote, according to Daily Mail Australia.

Rest in peace, Piper. It’s clear your owner loved you a lot. You may be gone, but you’re still touching many people.

It’s always great to have a pet dog by your side. They always know just how to provide loyalty and support when we need it most.

That was especially true for one dog, who saved the day by helping his owner get a stranger’s car unstuck after it became trapped in heavy flooding — a heartwarming rescue captured on video.

Lori Gillies, from Glasgow, Scotland, is the owner of a Springer Spaniel named Puck. The duo became local heroes over the weekend after coming to the rescue after finding a car trapped in flood waters.

“Puck and I were out on our usual walk and there was a car that was stuck in the water,” Lori told the Daily Record. “There were two women inside and I went down to give them a hand.”

Scotland has faced dire weather in recent days, as torrential rain and thunderstorms have caused flooding and traffic problems.

“We’ve never really had flooding as bad as that there,” Lori said.

Lori and Puck decided to help the women out by giving their car a push. Little did they know, the whole situation was caught on video by an overhead bystander, who watched in amazement — especially after Puck decided to join in and help push the car!

“The dog’s pushing it now. Brilliant,” Davie Keel, the local man recording the video, is heard saying. “There you go. Wee dog giving it a push. Look at that.”

Lori says that while Puck is 10 years old, he’s still in good shape, and was clearly eager to do his part. The driver took the handbrake off, and with her dog helping out by her side, Lori was able to push the car to dryer grounds.

“Once the handbrake was off it was just a quick push or two and the it started rolling,” she told the Daily Record.

Lori eventually heard about the video of her and Puck’s good deed, and shared it on her own Facebook. “Just doing a good deed helping this car and [its] owners get to drier land,” she wrote. “Puck really is the best dog in the whole wide world.”

The video has now gone viral, and people around the world have hailed Puck as a hero.

While pushing the car must’ve been quite a workout, Puck’s good deed was well-rewarded in the end by his owner:

“Puck got a very nice extra big dinner last night,” Lori told the Daily Record. “He got meat with gravy and biscuits with extra meat.”

What an amazing, caring dog! Thank you to Puck for helping these women get their car out of a flood!

When a woman noticed a terrified Pit Bull sitting motionlessly on a park bench in Santa Maria, she instantly knew something was off. But as she approached the lone dog, her blood boiled to find that the dog was completely blind and helplessly strapped to the bench for days. The poor creature had no idea she had been abandoned as she anxiously waited for her owner’s return.

The Santa Maria Animal Shelter took the dog in and named her Poly. Soon, a vet visit revealed further disturbing facts about the dog’s past. Apparently, Poly’s owner had exploited her for puppies all her life. It was speculated that the 3-year-old pooch was tossed away shortly after giving birth to her most recent litter.

Even after her rescue, luck was just not on Poly’s side. Poly had congestive heart failure and her heart could give out in just 2 months. Even with proper care and monitoring, her longevity could be stretched to 2 years tops, but not more.

As the shelter knew time was running out, they transferred Poly under the care of “Foreverhome Pet Rescue”. Poly was placed in a wonderful foster home where her new parents made sure she lived her life to the fullest. After finding herself in a nurturing environment for the first time, Poly blossomed into the happiest dog!

Poly spent each day of her remaining life ticking off every item from her bucket list. She peacefully passed away in the arms of her parents, knowing that she was a loved and cherished girl. Poly’s touching story has left us misty-eyed. She was truly a gentle, kind and forgiving soul. Rest in peace, sweetheart.
