A video is currently circulating the internet that is bound to give you all the feels: a 13-year-old boy being surprised by a puppy as his birthday gift from his recently deceased father.

Trust me on this, you’re going to need lots of tissues.

The emotional video shows the birthday boy, Logan Kavaluskis, being handed a small Boston Terrier puppy by his cousin, Jon Kavaluskis. Jon then tells Logan, that the puppy is his.

This birthday surprise was actually planned out by Logan’s father, Joe. Joe recently passed away on the 8th of January after a nine-year battle against multiple myeloma cancer.

Logan had always wanted a dog of his own, however, his father was allergic so the family was never able to get one.

But before he passed away, Joe plotted with his wife, Melanie, to get Logan a puppy after his death. With the help of Logan’s cousin Jon, the family found a healthy little Boston Terrier – one they felt was the perfect fit for the 13-year-old boy.

Joe passed away just five days prior to Logan’s 13th birthday. The family surprised the young boy by telling him they were driving north from their home in Hudsonville, Michigan, to collect a puppy – but they didn’t say for who it was.

The video was taken on the way home from collecting the puppy after the family pulled into a gas station and told Logan that they wanted a picture of him with the puppy.

That is when Jon revealed the truth. Logan can be seen crying when he’s told that the puppy is actually a birthday present from his dad, who “wanted [him] to have a puppy.”

Logan can be heard asking in disbelief, “Really?”

Jon then confirms it, saying, “Do you love him? He is all yours.”

What can only be described as love at first sight, shows the young boy cuddling the little Boston Terrier who is determined to lick the boy’s chin and nose.

The sweet video ends with Logan petting his new best friend, whom he named Indy.

We have no doubt that these two will form a very close bond, and Indy will forever be a constant reminder to Logan of just how much his dad loved him – and that is the most priceless gift of all.

Wherever there is dark there is light, wherever there are villains there are heroes.

That latter contrast was proven beyond doubt when four young boys in the 7 Mile area of Detroit went above and beyond to save a dog in desperate need of help.

Brothers Kenny, Kenneth, and Kevin Dancy, along with friend Andrew Daniels, were going about rather distinguishable business in helping a local woman who happened to be moving house, when they came across a scene that would have shocked any adult.

They discovered an abandoned dog tied to the back of a house with bungee cords. Emaciated and shivering from exposure, the poor pup was in a seriously bad way.

The boys knew they had to act fast. They wrapped the dog in a winter coat to keep her warm, before freeing her from her bonds and taking her home with them so they could give her food and water. They named her Sparkle.

As fate would have it, they encountered members of the Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue while walking Sparkle out in the neighborhood.

They told the dog’s story to the men, who believed that Sparkle was also suffering from mange. The organization took her in for veterinary care, taking time to post heartfelt thanks in a Facebook video that labelled the boys “heroes”.

“You could tell they really love this dog,” Theresa Sumpter, the organization’s founder, told WDIV.

“They were protective of the dog and wanted to make sure the dog was going to a good place.”

After Sparkle was tested at the shelter, it became apparent that she didn’t have the mange. This mean she could be fast-tracked to adoption. Pet Tales Rescue, a sister organization, oversaw the process, placing Sparkles with a foster mom who would give her all the love she needed.

Meanwhile, the four young boys, who received widespread praise for their compassion, also went on to rescue two more dogs in the same neighborhood. Again via Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue, they were able to take the dogs from the streets to the vet for treatment.

It’s pretty common for young boys to come home at the end of a day covered in dirt and who knows what else. But in one particular case, some muddy kids from Wales deserve praise, not scolding. These boys teamed up to help a 10-year-old dog named Charlea out of a real sticky situation.

Hayley Edgar, a Conwy resident, was walking home with her daughters when she spotted the dog in trouble. Charlea had gotten trapped in some sticky sand and could not pull herself out, no matter how much her mom called to her. Edgar joined in with the distressed parent in calling across the field for help. That’s when these kids literally ran to the rescue.

In a post to the Conwy Community Group on Facebook, Edgar shared a photo of the event and wrote:

“If those boys are your kids, they’re going to be coming home full of mud and if they were my kids I probably wouldn’t be too happy, but what they have done made me so proud that I cried as I walked away.”

Answering The Call, As A Team

Edgar went on to explain the situation further in her post. She noted how panicked the Chocolate Lab’s mother, Gillian Traylor, was at the sight of her struggling, trapped dog.

“A dog got caught up in the sinking sand and was distressed, the lady who was walking her dog obviously panicked that her baby was stuck right in front of her eyes.”

Like Marvel heroes, the boys scaled the fence to get to Charlea when they heard the calls. They formed a human chain to provide a stronger lift.

“The boys didn’t hesitate, they jumped straight in and saved that dog’s life, those boys deserve to know that they are amazing people.”

At first, the kids tried to pull Charlea out by her collar, but it slipped off. One of the boys waded deeper into the mud to push her out from behind. Eventually, Charlea was out of the mud and back with her mom, safe. Charlea has since had a bath, of course, and she’s doing fine.

Saving Charlea Was Thanks Enough

Traylor expressed her sincere gratitude to the boys who went above and beyond to help her and her dog. She even called their school to make sure their good behavior was noted.

“I’m okay, I was very emotional and incredibly grateful, when I asked them for help I just shouted out and the boys ran down the football field, scaled the fence which must be 10 foot high and plunged straight into the mud. There was no hesitation at all.”

Saving Charlea seemed to be sufficient payment for the kids though. They refused to accept an award.

“The boys are all so humble about it, I want to give them something but they insist they don’t want anything, they just wanted to help. I’m so so grateful as they saved her life.”

It may be the season of giving, but it seems like these kids are just good people. Charlea rests, clean, in her mom’s arms again thanks to their good nature.
