A lot of stray animals are being rescued by different animal welfare organizations all over the world. They save animals’ lives, they treat the wounded, they cure the ill, they give these poor animals homes, and they become their foster parents.
But would you believe that there’s a dog who rescued a litter of kittens and became their foster dad?
The streets of Greece are filled with a lot of stray kittens and other homeless animals. These unfortunate animals do not have the slightest idea of how it feels to have a decent home to protect them from the dangers of the streets, or the feeling of being loved by a human companion.
The Second Chance Animal Rescue Society (SCARS) is a rescue organization trying to change this sad truth.
They have rescued countless animals, mostly cats and dogs. One of the SCARS volunteers has a rescue dog of their own, and his name is Aragon.
Aragon normally takes his walks near the mountains with his human, because this area is usually filled with abandoned pets. These include kittens, puppies, bunnies, and birds.
In some cases, when fate turns really ugly, these poor animals will be found by hungry foxes before rescuers have a chance to get to them.
SCARS is trying to lessen and eventually irradicate such cases.
According to Live Science:
“Foxes are omnivorous mammals that are light on their feet. They are often mistaken for other members of the Canidae family, which include jackals, wolves, and dogs.”
The site goes on to say:
“A fox’s diet can consist of small animals, such as lizards, voles, rats, mice, rabbits, and hares…Foxes usually live in forested areas, though they are also found in mountains, grasslands, and deserts.”
Unfortunately for many animals in this part of Greece, they end up abandoned in prime fox territory.
Thankfully for some of them, however, Aragon is a hero dog!
One day, Aragon was walking near the mountains with his owner when he suddenly began pulling her in a certain direction. When she allowed him to take the lead, so-to-speak, the smart dog led her straight to a cardboard box.
They saw a litter of kittens inside, obviously abandoned by some cruel owner.
It was a good thing that they found them just in time, or else the poor kittens would’ve most likely been eaten by another hungry fox!
They brought the kittens back to the rescue and they were examined thoroughly to see if they were ill or injured.
Gladly, they were now free of any danger, and they seemed to be relatively healthy. They were given the utmost care by the staff and, of course, their doggy rescuer, Aragon.
Aragon didn’t only become a hero that day. He also became a foster dad!
The kittens’ adoring hero eventually became their foster dad and took charge of caring for each and every one of the tiny, inquisitive kitties.
It’s the sweetest thing ever, seeing a rescue dog turn into a rescuer himself, and then a foster dad to these abandoned kittens. It’s not the normal course of a relationship you would see grow between cats and dogs, but it’s absolutely beautiful.
