Dogs are such loving and protective animals, especially towards young children. There have been many instances when a child has been lost and in danger, only to be found with their loyal dog keeping them safe.

That was the case recently, after two young girls went missing but thankfully had their golden retriever by their side as their guardian angel.

Justin and Mary Bourg, of Folsom, Louisiana, experienced every parent’s worst nightmare last month, after their two daughters, 7-year-old Abigail and 4-year-old Cecilia, went missing.

“That feeling of just, ‘Oh my gosh, what could happen to them, where are they?’ You start feeling the worst in those split seconds, too long,” Mary told WDSU.

The mother put out an urgent plea on Facebook, saying that the girls had disappeared from their property and had their pet golden retriever, Artemis, with them. She wrote that police and locals from the community were out looking for her daughters.

“Please pray that our babies come home safely,” Mary wrote.

The search party used ATVs, drones, helicopters and dozens of volunteers. But ultimately, it was the golden retriever that helped guide them to the right location.

“Artemis heard people coming and started barking making it much easier to find them,” Mary wrote.

That help may have proved crucial, as the girls were in a deep, dark part of the woods and it might have otherwise been harder to locate them.

The girls were finally found, and it was clear that Artemis had been fiercely protecting them the entire time. “He even growled at the police at first because he was protecting our babies,” Mary wrote.

“Abigail was laying on top of Artemis holding his collar and just snuggled up with him and CC (Cecilia) was laying with her head on Abigail’s stomach, and they were just kind of dug in for the night,” Justin Bourg told WWL.

The father said the girls were about three to four hundred yards from home, and he’s grateful that they knew to stay put when they got lost, saying that “Jesus took the reins and gave them some peace and direction.”

As the girls waited to be found, Artemis was their vigilant protector: Mary wrote that the dog likely protected them from the wild hogs in the area.

While the 4-year-old was “shaken” by the ordeal, the girls were otherwise okay. The parents breathed a sigh of relief, and say they are taking precautions to keep their girls safe in the future.

“It was tough, I told them I said that was probably the most tears I cried in the last 20 years,” Justin told WDSU. “I don’t want to traumatize them, I want to keep that adventure mentality but also have a head about it and be smart.”

They thanked all the people involved with the search mission, while also thanking their “hero” dog Artemis. In a follow-up post, Mary shared a photo of one of her daughters cuddled up with Artemis: “She still doesn’t want to leave him.”

What a miracle — we’re so glad these girls were found safe and sound, and had loyal dog Artemis there with them for protection.

Two girls instantly fell in love with a dog named Rosie when they saw her online. However, Rosie was in a kill shelter in Georgia, which was far off from where the girls lived. So even if Rosie was up for adoption, the little girls couldn’t do anything about it.

But the girls were so fascinated by Rosie that they would check up on her adoption status every day. One day, the girls’ hearts sank when they saw that Rosie would be put down if she doesn’t get an adoption commitment soon. The girls cried their eyes out, as they didn’t know how to help Rosie.

Unbeknownst to the girls, their parents were very aware of their girls’ misery. They decided to approach the shelter and talk about a way to transport Rosie to their city. They were going to adopt her and surprise the girls!

In this video, we see the girls’ mother surprise them on the streets with Rosie in her arms. It’s a wild mixture of emotions as the girls can’t believe what they’re seeing and slowly realize their parents’ sweet gesture!

The two girls cry happy tears as they embrace Rosie. Rosie too shares her gratefulness with cuddly hugs as she senses that these two girls have saved her with their love. Rosie and the girls form an inseparable trio now. What a touching rescue story!

People are calling a 10-year-old girl’s survival a miracle, and it’s all thanks to one special dog. The girl, who’s known as Vika Z, loved spending time around the stray dogs in Sakhalin, Russia. So, when she got lost during an intense blizzard, she turned to her furry friends for help.

Vika disappeared for 18 hours as temperatures dipped to -11 degrees Celsius. Her family feared the frigid night would be too much for her, but then a miracle happened with the help of a stray dog. This pup deserves so much recognition for his kind and nurturing behaviors.

A Dangerous Blizzard

Vika got lost on her way home from school, which happened to be during a frigid blizzard. The snow grew two feet deep, with some drifts blocking the first floors of buildings. But that didn’t stop Vika’s family and the community from searching.

Eventually, the weather got so bad that it was difficult to see anything through the falling snow. Vika’s family walked the streets, calling her name. They asked neighbors if they’d seen her. One person mentioned that they saw the girl playing with a stray dog near an apartment building earlier in the day.

That tip led a rescue team to Vika, who was about a half-mile away from home. She was hugging a fluffy dog, who was keeping her warm during the blizzard. They were both lying on a mattress under a balcony, which animal lovers had left for the strays. The balcony provided just enough shelter to protect the girl and dog from the snow.

Dog Saves Girl’s Life

The stray dog wandered off once help arrived as if he knew his work was done. Even though he saved the girl’s life, she still had some frostbite and had to be rushed to the hospital.

“The fact that the girl remained alive in such weather really is a miracle,” said search party volunteer Anatoly Ivanov. “We were looking all night, nothing was visible at all, our hands in mittens were so cold, it was difficult to straighten our fingers.”’

Vika reunited with her mom, Tatyana, at the hospital. Luckily, Vika’s injuries were minor, so she was able to return home that same day. It was all thanks to one mysterious hero dog.

The family plans to honor the dog in some way, but no one knows where the stray ran off to. Maybe one day he’ll reunite with Vika again so he can get the recognition he deserves.

A couple of girls were out and about when they came across the last thing they expected to find. There underneath of the Williamsburg bridge was a skeleton of a dog who was not moving. To imagine the horror he must’ve gone through in life to end up in this predicament is just sickening. The girls knew they had to help and got a cart with some blankets.

They transported the dog over to the Animal Haven shelter in New York where the pup seemed to understand they were trying to help him. Timmie was so willing and trusting despite the way he was neglected in his past, and when they got him into the building, he stood and walked around a little bit! A huge surprise considering just how skinny he was.

They gave Timmie a little bit of food and rushed him to the emergency vet where he would stay for 36 days. He put on some weight little by little until he was healthy enough to be fostered. And that’s where Allison stepped into the picture!

She never intended on keeping Timmie, but the two connected immediately in a way that very few do. He never left her side, and it started heading toward the inevitable “foster failure”! You’ll want to see how good this boy looks now with his new mama in the video below. 🙂
