Actress Kristen Bell has fostered many dogs over the years, but now she’s ready to make one a permanent family member. The Good Place star turned to social media to share the good news. She adopted a small, scruffy dog named Whiskey.

Poor Whiskey only has three legs due to an accident with a truck, but he doesn’t need four legs to live his best life. The rescue pup is already getting along with Bell’s husband, kids, and other pets, so he’s clearly getting lots of love. As always, Bell encourages her fans to adopt because there are so many dogs out there who need forever homes.

Ready for a New Family Member

In October 2020, Bell lost her beloved rescue dog named Barbara. Barbara was diagnosed with Giardia, and while the family hoped she would pull through, they ended up saying goodbye.

For the following five months, Bell fostered a few dogs, but didn’t know if she was ready to commit to another furry friend yet. After all, she thinks very highly of her pets and treats them just like she would with any other family member.

“I have treated all my dogs like my kids,” said Bell. “To me, they’re just kids I didn’t birth.”

So, when March 2021 rolled around, Bell decided that she was ready. She adopted Whiskey, who is already settling into their home.

Welcome Home, Whiskey!

Bell used Instagram to share Whiskey’s adoption announcement. She shared three adorable photos of the pup, who is missing his back leg. But of course, that doesn’t take away from his cuteness!

“Meet Whiskey! Before he was rescued he got in a fight with a truck and lost (a leg) but who needs four legs anyway?” Bell wrote on Instagram.

In the first photo, Whiskey and Bell’s other dog Frank are peacefully curled up on her lap. Then, the next two images are close-ups of Whiskey, showing his true beauty. Many celebrities commented heartfelt messages on the post, including D’Arcy Carden, Zooey Deschanel, and Lucy Hale.

Bell also added that Frank loves his new canine brother, and Bell’s two daughters adore him as well. She said her husband Dax Shepherd tolerates Whiskey, but like most new dog dads, he probably secretly loves the pup more than anything. Bell has always been a huge advocate for dog adoption so, this is just another example of why rescue dogs are amazing!

“I chose to adopt as opposed to going to a breeder because I wanted a family member, not a handbag,” Bell explained. “It should be less about the purchase and more about connecting with someone who also needs some companionship.”

Three New York nuns lost their beloved canine companion and had one mission when finding another pup to share their home with – a dog that nobody wanted. So when the three sisters of Sisters of Our Lady of Christian Doctrine walked into Hi Tor Animal Care Center, they found exactly what they were looking for. Remy is a 9-year-old Pit Bull nearly destined to be euthanized in a shelter, where so many people are looking for puppies and young dogs of a breed without a bad rap.

Luckily for her, the sisters fell in love with Remy and brought her home. They understand that Pit Bulls have a bad reputation but are really sweet, loving dogs once people get to know them. In fact, Remy was especially affectionate to Sister Virginia, who walks with a cane. There’s no doubt the four of them will live happily together for years to come.

A Hi Tor volunteer and another board member were so moved by the nuns’ actions, they covered all of the adoption expenses so that Remy could go to her forever home without a penny spent by the three sisters.

A Boxer named Buster and a Chihuahua named Little Miss are 2 bonded dogs who were enduring hard times on the streets of Arizona. The starving homeless pair was desperately clinging to each other when the rescuers found them. But even after being brought to a shelter, they refused to let go of each other!

The staff at Maricopa County Animal Care and Control soon realized that Little Miss and Buster needed each other’s company to survive. However, they also knew the chances of 2 dogs getting adopted together were pretty slim. That’s when they made an effort to reach out to the local community through social media.

In a series of pictures posted on the shelter’s social media, Little Miss was seen adorably perched on Buster’s back while the duo posed for the camera. The shelter hoped that someone would fall in love with the 2 best friends, but they never expected their.

Oklahoma State University sophomore Hallee Fuqua had always been begging her parents to adopt a dog for Christmas. Her parents made it clear that they will adopt one only when she finishes college. Seeing no other option, Hallee started volunteering at the Humane Society of Stillwater to spend time in the company of dogs.

Hallee instantly fell in love with Rambo, the shelter’s 2-year-old Plott Hound mix. Rambo, who was rescued from the streets, was so obsessed with Hallee that he eagerly anticipated her visits. It was evident that Hallee and Rambo were perfect for each other, and she couldn’t wait to adopt him after college.

Hallee’s parents were very much aware about her special bond with Rambo. They decided to adopt the dog and surprise their daughter with an early Christmas present. They even got the shelter onboard, who happily lied to Hallee that Rambo was adopted by some other family!

In this video, we see the heartbroken Hallee answer the door to find a reindeer-hat wearing Rambo staring at her! Rambo is equally shocked to see Hallee and leaps to her in crazy excitement! Sadly, many lost dogs never find their way home. And the longer they’re missing, the harder it is to stay positive. So, when Aisha Nieves had a chance encounter with her long-lost dog, she was shocked. She assumed she would never see him again, so it was like fate.

Kovu, a Pit Bull/Rottweiler mix, escaped his yard two years ago after a vehicle ran into the home’s fence. He was soon adopted out to a different family, so Nieves was devastated. Once she was ready to adopt a new dog, that’s when she saw that Kovu was up for adoption again. She couldn’t wait to share a beautiful reunion with the canine!

Lost Dog with New Family

Kovu has been with Nieves since he was only seven weeks old. In May 2019, a truck drove into the family’s fenced-in yard, leaving a hole big enough for the pup to squeeze through. At first, Nieves hadn’t realized that Kovu escaped, but he didn’t come when he was called. She looked all over the house and yard, but Kovu was gone.

“I was four months pregnant with my younger son at the time,” Nieves said. “I had a lot of emotions going through me. I was crying, thinking the worst, thinking somebody kidnapped or hurt him. I was just devastated. He was there for me through everything, heartbreaks, ups and downs, and now he was gone. It was so hard to accept.”

Later that year, Nieves located Kovu on the adoption page at Lehigh County Humane Society (LCHS). He was named “Ash.” When Nieves reached out to the shelter, they explained that Kovu had been there for four months, and another family had recently adopted him. When he arrived, he also had fleas and skin inflammation. The shelter treated all those things before sending him off to a new home.

Of course, it was good to know that Kovu was at least in a loving home, but Nieves was still heartbroken. At that point, it seemed like there was nothing she could do. So, she accepted that she would never see her beloved canine again.

Just Like Old Times

For two years, Nieves wondered how Kovu was doing. But eventually, she decided that it was time for their family to get a new dog. So, she hopped back on the LCHS website. This time, she was surprised to see a familiar dog named Ash up for adoption. Nieves knew it was Kovu because he has a small scar over one of his eyes.

“On June 12 of this year, the family returned, stating they were facing possible eviction and needed to surrender him,” said Deirdre Snyder, the director of development at LCHS. “We accepted him and waived the surrender fee. Kovu was in good health.”

Nieves quickly contacted the shelter, hoping things would be different this time. She explained that Kovu was the dog she lost two years ago. So, the shelter asked her to come in and bring her ID and a photo of her with Kovu. Yet, Nieves didn’t really need to prove anything because Kovu’s reaction was proof enough.

Nieves had worried that Kovu wouldn’t remember her after all this time, but the pup was ecstatic. He pulled toward her, wagged his tail like crazy, and covered her with kisses. It was as if no time had passed at all.

The family is thrilled to celebrate Kovu’s 7th birthday together this year. Nieves has vowed to be extra careful from now on to ensure that her furry friend never gets lost again. Now, their family finally feels whole thanks to the cheerful, loving canine.

Pit Bull Puppy Rescued From The Brink Of Death Reunites With His Rescuer, Then Gets The Best Surprise! (With Updates)

Joey Wagner, a marine from Nova Scotia, went above and beyond the call of duty when he rescued a Pit Bull puppy that was at the brink of death. Wagner came across the mange-infested pup and acted quickly! He brought him to the vet for immediate care. Thankfully, his quick thinking saved the pup’s life. The medical team named the pup Mojo because of his luck in life.

The medical team didn’t want Mojo to be adopted out traditionally. So, they naturally reached out to someone very special to see if he would open his home to Mojo. It was obvious that he had already opened his heart…

When Wagner came back to the clinic to see his new puppy, he was greeted in a very special way. Mojo was beyond thrilled to see the man that saved him. There is NO DOUBT that he remembered Wagner and the decision to reunite them was a genius one indeed!

UPDATES!

Now Mojo is three years old and doing great! He lives happily with Wagner and his family and is a very happy boy. Rumor has it that he’s quite spoiled (and we are totally on board with that!)
