Matilda, a beautiful Pit Bull puppy, has cerebellar hypoplasia. According to the NIH, “Cerebellar hypoplasia is a neurological condition in which the cerebellum—the part of the brain that coordinates movement—is smaller than usual or not completely developed.” The condition causes Matilda to wobble while she’s walking.

Lee from The Asher House met the tenacious pup in the shelter. He is completely confident that Matilda will thrive, no matter her obstacles. Lee happily brings Matilda back home. Once she arrives at The Asher House, she’s all about the cuddles! The pair embrace one another as if they’re the only two beings left on earth. Next, it’s time for a good ol’ fashion play session with some pawsome toys! Matilda’s wobble makes her tumble about as she frolics, and it’s just about the cutest thing ever!

When it’s time for Lee to introduce Matilda to the pack, the Pittie can’t contain herself! She’s so happy to have a giant group of puppy support (who, of course, LOVE to play!) She plays with her new siblings, celebrating her life free from the confines of the animal shelter.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a Pit Bull loose on the streets, and neighbors were concerned. When law enforcement arrived, the dog did something that no one would have guessed. The locals were worried and concerned about a “dangerous” Pit Bull running wild.

The police department stated the following:

“This morning, deputies responded to an Animal call in South District. A large pit bull was running around and neighbors were worried,” the department said.

“Upon arrival, the deputy discovered that this wonderful dog was just out looking for friends to play with.”

“After sufficient play time and fun, deputies were able reunite the dog with his owners.”

“A gate was accidentally left open and this beautiful dog was able to be taken back to his loving home.”

The post Sheriff Goes Looking For A ‘Loose’ Pit Bull, Then The Dog Comes Right At His Car appeared first on G2a-ltc.

Learn about the heroic act of a UPS driver who saved a chained and emaciated Great Dane during his delivery route in Indiana. Gavin Crowsley noticed the dog on January 21, 2013, and stopped to investigate. The dog was tied up in a snowy yard with no food, water, or shelter, and was extremely malnourished. Crowsley reported the abuse to the Clay County Humane Society, who soon discovered that the pup was actually a Great Dane and weighed only 62 pounds, nearly 100 pounds less than he should have.

The Great Dane, later named Phoenix, was confiscated from his neglectful owners and taken for treatment. He was blind in one eye, completely deaf, and suffered from malnourishment, pneumonia, and frostbitten ears. However, Phoenix received the care he needed and was eventually adopted by a loving family who set up a Facebook page for him called Phoenix Fighters.

Phoenix’s story was shared on UPS’s Facebook page seven months later, where it was revealed that the recovering pup had been reunited with the man who saved him. Crowsley also got to meet Phoenix’s new mom, and the dog went on to live an eventful life. He became a therapy dog, helped raise money for cancer research and other abused dogs, and even made visits to nursing homes to cheer up residents.

Unfortunately, Phoenix suffered a setback in 2015 when he and his brother Rigs were poisoned and fell into a coma. Although he recovered, Phoenix later needed more surgery for a growth on his foot. However, Phoenix’s final years were spent playing, eating, and surrounded by the love of his foster family, including some kids to play with.

Phoenix passed away peacefully in his adopted mother’s arms on March 12, 2019. His story continues to inspire and serve as a call to action for all dog owners to fight against animal cruelty. The Phoenix Fighters Facebook page remains active, occasionally sharing updates on other animals in need. May Phoenix’s story remind us all to be better creatures and make the world a more beautiful place for dogs like him.

Bruce and Jen were on vacation in Macedonia enjoying themselves when they came across a little one who stole their attention. Limping outside of the only restaurant in town, this sweet stray needed help in the worst way. It was after midnight, so the couple encouraged the boy to follow them home. They were complete strangers to him, but Chachi needed their help.

The sickly looking dog followed them into their yard, and they knew right then and there he had to be a part of their lives. They would make him as comfortable there as possible while scheduling a vet to come take a look at the dog. The vet gave Chachi all of his vaccines, a microchip, and even a puppy passport!

Bruce and Jen had started the process of transporting the dog back home with them, but that’s when they learned Chachi was too sick to fly. Luckily, Jen’s mom and dad decided to stay a few extra days and said they wouldn’t leave without him!

A few days before the parents were ready to come home, they were able to place Chachi on a flight! The pup arrived to his new forever home to meet his new doggy brother, and Bruce and Jen never looked back. Amazing! 🙂

After Scott lost his German Shepherd, he was down on life and decided to drive down a country road. That’s when he saw a sign that said “German Shepherd puppies” while driving through a small farming town in Payette, Idaho. He went to check out the puppies just to get some puppy love. He had no intentions of adopting a puppy that day, but fate had decided it was time to bring love and purpose back into his life in the form of a puppy named “Biggie.”

Biggie was the “odd man out” of the puppy group and had a hernia. No one wanted to adopt him but all he wanted was a shoulder to lean on. And that shoulder came in the form of Scott. Scott and Biggie fell in love with each other the moment they met, and then their fairytale began to unfold.

Scott began taking Biggie to new places and on new adventures. He wanted to give Biggie the best life he could. He took Biggie to open fields, mountain treks, snow runs, and swimming in pristine lakes. And Biggie loved every moment of it!

Even though Scott almost lost Biggie when Biggie was admitted to the ICU, Scott never once gave up on his buddy. Biggie soon recovered and now they’re living their best life once again! As Scott put it so beautifully in the video below, “If you give your dog the best life you can, in turn, you have the best life that you can have as well.” Well said, Scott!

A heartwarming story of a puppy abandoned by his new owners has been making headlines. The Paw Squadron received an emergency call and rushed to rescue the puppy, who was dumped outside. The rescuers searched the vast village area and finally found the scared and alone puppy. Despite running away at first, the puppy eventually came to the rescuers.

The rescuers provided the puppy with food and water before taking him home. During the journey, they discovered that the puppy loved cuddles. Once they arrived home, the curious puppy explored his new surroundings and had a bath, which he behaved well despite not liking water.

The Paw Squadron took the puppy to the vet for a check-up, and he was found to be in excellent health. It had been a long day for the puppy, but he slept deeply and peacefully once they returned home.

This story highlights the importance of responsible pet ownership and the consequences of abandoning animals. The rescued puppy has been given a second chance at a loving home thanks to the dedication of the Paw Squadron. A one-year-old dog miraculously survived a 150-mile trek across Alaska — and after his harrowing journey he’s finally made it home.

Mandy Iworrigan, of Gambell, Alaska, is the owner of a 1-year-old Australian shepherd namd Nanuq. Last month, while her family was visiting Savoonga, a city on St. Lawrence Island in the Bering Sea, Nanuq and their other family dog Starlight disappeared, according to Anchorage Daily News.

The two dogs vanished in the tundra. While Mandy’s uncle assured her that dogs run off and find their way back all the time, her dogs seemed gone for good.

The family got some good news weeks later when Starlight turned up, but Nanuq was still nowhere to be found.

But then, a dog was spotted in Wales, 150 miles northeast of their home — a dog that looked just like Nanuq.

“My dad texted me and said, ‘There’s a dog that looks like Nanuq in Wales,’” Mandy told the Anchorage Daily News. Locals had shared photos of the lost dog on Facebook, and when Mandy checked the site she realized it really was Nanuq.

“I was like, ‘No freakin’ way! That’s our dog! What is he doing in Wales?’”

That part is still a mystery. Nanuq survived weeks in the tundra, traveling across 150 miles of sea ice. The owner suspects he may have survived by hunting seal and birds.

“I have no idea why he ended up in Wales. Maybe the ice shifted while he was hunting,” Mandy said.

Nanuq was also found with a swollen leg with two large bite marks. It’s not clear what caused the bites: possibly a wolverine, seal or small polar bear. But considering everything he went through, Nanuq is in surprisingly good health.

Mandy used airline points to cover the expense of bringing Nanuq home. There are no direct flights from Wales to St. Lawrence Island, but Nanuq was able to board a charter flight transporting student athletes.

Nanuq’s unlikely journey home made him a local celebrity, with many people being impressed by his survival skills.

His owner will never know for sure what adventures her dogs got up to in the tundra but knows they’d have quite a tale to tell.

“If dogs could talk, both of them would have one heck of a story,” she told Anchorage Daily News.

Kindness is a trait that comes naturally to some people. Such is the case with Shelly Blount, a passionate dog-lover who recently had an experience that left a profound mark on her. While scrolling through her social media feed, she came across a post about a dog that was about to be put down. Blount immediately called the shelter to try and do something about the situation. Fortunately, the dog was adopted just in time.

Inspired by her success, Blount asked the shelter if there were other dogs scheduled to be put down. She was eager to save a life even if it was the only thing she could do. So she drove four hours from Virginia to North Carolina to meet Caleb. When she arrived, she learned about two other dogs, Charisma and Bella, who were also scheduled to be put down.

Without hesitation, Blount decided to adopt all three dogs. She and her friend drove back to Virginia with five passengers in total. Caleb went to one of her friends, who already had a Labrador for him to play with. Bella went to Blount’s boyfriend, and Charisma stayed with Blount.

During the car ride, Charisma hugged and slept on Blount the entire time, while Bella was content sitting on Blount’s friend’s lap. Caleb was overjoyed and kept giving Blount kisses. The experience was so meaningful that Blount shared it on her social media accounts to encourage others to adopt pets in need of a home.

Blount’s kindness didn’t stop there. She later found out that Charisma was pregnant and decided to keep her as well. This act of kindness not only saved three lives but also had a ripple effect on others. Blount encourages everyone to adopt pets in need of a home and to follow her social media accounts for announcements about other dogs that need saving.
