It’s heart-wrenching to think about how some individuals can abandon their beloved pets. In this instance, a family moved away, leaving their dog, Shey, behind at the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.

Despite being a 14-year-old miniature poodle with nearly no teeth, partial blindness, and deafness, Shey remained hopeful for a new home. For four long months, he waited patiently at the shelter for someone to give him a chance.

Enter Tristan, a young boy with a big heart and an unending love for cuddly puppies. When he visited the shelter, he had his heart set on finding the perfect companion. Little did he know, the shelter staff had someone special in mind for him – Shey.

Despite being warned about Shey’s special needs, Tristan was undeterred. He saw beyond the dog’s imperfections and knew he had the capacity to provide the love and care that Shey needed. With that, Tristan made the life-changing decision to adopt Shey and give him the forever home he deserved.
